Job Description
RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Substation Project Manager in Florida. This is a full time, direct hire, Office Based position with our client.Overview of YOUR role as a Substation Project Manager
The Substation Project Manager is responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and evaluating substation construction projects in accordance with scope, budget, and schedule requirements. This role includes oversight of design-build and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, and requires coordination of estimating, procurement, subcontractors, and client relations, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will report directly to the Division Manager of Substation Operations and serve as the main point of contact for all project stakeholders.
As a Substation Project Manager YOU will:
• Manage substation projects from proposal through closeout
• Oversee daily construction activities including budgeting, scheduling, and progress tracking
• Develop and manage detailed project work plans and construction schedules
• Monitor procurement of labor, materials, and equipment
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, reports, and change orders
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and project personnel
• Attend site visits, field walk-downs, and weekly project meetings
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards
• Support estimate development and subcontractor selection
• Provide regular updates on project performance and financial status
YOU are the ideal Substation Project Manager candidate if you have:
• 5+ years of project management experience in the electrical utility industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience using Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, civil, and structural plans
• Knowledge of OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
It’s a BONUS if you have:
• Experience managing EPC or design-build substation projects
• Hands-on experience with project estimating and material procurement
• Familiarity with substation proposals and specification documentation
