Job Description

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Communications Field Tech in Littleton, MA. This is a full time, contract to hire, field based assignment with our client.

Overview of YOUR role as a Communications Field Tech
This is the first level of the field technician positions and may serve as a training position for a future CADD Technician role. Desired qualifications include strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with common computer software, and familiarity with CAD drafting systems, utility design or construction, GIS systems, and data structures. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated.

As a Communications Field Tech YOU will:
• Collect facilities field data for use in updating records or preparing design documents
• Perform data collection, measurement, mapping, field photography, inventory, staking, and other reconnaissance tasks under senior staff direction
• Adhere to and promote our client’s core values among team members and clients
• Gather field data using paper drawings, electronic devices, digital cameras, or other specified tools
• Identify and document field items accurately with minimal supervision
• Use technology tools such as hand-held data loggers, laser range finders, angle finders, digital cameras, and GPS receivers
• Record accurate measurements and dimensions per project requirements
• Render as-built field conditions to serve as a base for design work
• Use correct standards and symbology to ensure clear, accurate documentation
• Correctly identify field equipment and apparatus with minimal errors
• Meet production targets to stay on schedule and within budgeted hours

YOU are the ideal Communications Field Tech candidate if you have:
• Strong organizational and written communication skills
• Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and CAD drafting systems
• Experience in utility design or line construction
• Working knowledge of GIS systems and basic data structures
• High level of self-motivation

It’s a BONUS if you have:
• Previous experience supporting senior technical or engineering staff in the field
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and lead a team
• A customer- and team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently
