Job Summary:
The Lead Transmission Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and implementation of high-voltage transmission systems. This role requires a strong technical background and leadership skills to manage complex engineering projects and mentor a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and implementation of transmission lines and systems from conception to completion.
- Conduct system studies, load flow, stability analysis, and fault analysis to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and review engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and staff.
- Prepare and present technical reports, project proposals, and status updates to stakeholders and management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety codes, and environmental regulations.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technology solutions to enhance system performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure the quality and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Participate in budgeting and resource planning for transmission projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in transmission engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading and managing complex transmission projects.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage transmission line design, construction, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PLS-CADD, PowerWorld, or similar tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including NERC, FERC, and IEEE.
