An engineering firm is seeking a Staff Engineer with interest in environmental and civil engineering, particularly in the design, construction, monitoring, and compliance of environmental control and monitoring systems for landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities.
This position involves a combination of field and office work, including travel and overnight stays. The role is designed for candidates who want a fast-paced, challenging environment with opportunities for professional growth and hands-on project experience.
Assist with development and implementation of engineering plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, force mains, leachate collection, landfill gas systems, stormwater management, erosion control, and landfill cell construction.
Contribute to solid waste engineering design and permitting projects.
Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and operating plans.
Perform construction monitoring and documentation, including inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners.
Collect and analyze air and water monitoring samples.
Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D to support project design.
Collaborate with senior staff, while independently completing assigned tasks.
Supervise or coordinate with field support staff during construction quality assurance/control activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, Geological, or Construction Engineering.
1–5 years of engineering experience (internship or early career acceptable).
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
EIT certification, surveying knowledge, and soils mechanics coursework a plus.
Must be able to travel on short notice, including weekends, and hold a valid driver’s license in good standing.
