Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Category Analyst to join our team on the West Coast. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, market research, and category management. They will play a key role in driving category growth and optimizing product assortment through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for category growth.
- Develop and maintain category dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and supply chain, to align category strategies and execution plans.
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of category initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Support the development of pricing strategies, promotional plans, and assortment decisions to maximize category profitability and market share.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against category objectives and identify areas for improvement.
- Utilize advanced analytics tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from large data sets.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains competitive in the marketplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Category Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with retail or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry is a plus.
- Experience with market research methodologies and tools is advantageous.
