Now Hiring: Stationary Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all laboratory, production, and facilities equipment (boiler, HVAC, glycol system, air compressors, pumps, autoclaves, etc.), in collaboration with the Director of Operations and Project Manager.
- Organize and manage spare parts inventory.
- Manage, operate, and monitor boiler equipment daily, including troubleshooting and repairing steam lines.
- Maintain comprehensive records of operations, maintenance, and safety activities.
- Test and monitor water, chemical, and fuel levels, making necessary adjustments.
- Report complex boiler issues requiring third-party repair to the Director of Operations.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices, building codes, and government regulations.
- Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair work with managers and production schedules to minimize operational disruption.
- Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history.
- Track, analyze, and optimize key maintenance parameters (asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance).
- Prioritize and organize tasks to meet departmental goals efficiently.
- Provide progress reports on ongoing projects and maintain detailed maintenance logs.
- Identify and propose solutions for operational improvements.
- Provide troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical support to plant personnel.
- Troubleshoot and service HVAC units.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to optimize plant equipment and systems, minimize downtime, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain optimal plumbing system functionality by repairing or replacing PVC and copper pipes.
- Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance across all facilities, in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all quality, safety, and GMP policies and procedures.
- Maintain on-call availability for boiler management, emergency repairs, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Assist in the safe transport of materials and supplies between facilities.
- Qualify employees on heavy machinery operation, ensuring safety protocol adherence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License required.
- Proven experience in maintenance coordination within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of GMP and food hygiene procedures and food safety requirements.
- Proficiency in boiler management.
- Proficiency in HVAC troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems and pipe repair.
- Basic electrical knowledge for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in training others on heavy machinery operation (preferred).
- Forklift certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for 8-10 hours per day.
- Ability to navigate all facility departments.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (20°F to 90°F).
- Ability to work in a loud environment.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into confined spaces.
Working Conditions:
- Normal plant and office environment.
- On-site 4 days per week, 10 hours per shift.
