We are currently seeking a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant to join the team in our Richmond, VA office.
An ideal candidate will possess:
- 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers' compensation
- Strong written and verbal English-language communication skills, along with attention to detail
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, Commission rules, procedures, practices etc.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- The desire to work as an individual contributor in a team setting
- Comfort with case management software as well as Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities:
As a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for all details before, during, and after trial. Some of those responsibilities include:
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court
- Communicate directly with clients, medical providers, and adjusters
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
- Organize and properly analyze medical records and other file contents
- Provide assistance with case settlements
- Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.)
