Senior Property Accountant (Richmond, VA)

About Us
ProspectBlue is seeking a Senior Property Accountant on behalf of a client in the commercial real estate industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, detail-oriented accounting professional to join a dynamic team in Richmond, VA. The position reports directly to the Director of Property Accounting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reconcile property bank accounts; research and resolve reconciling items timely.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including capitalization of assets, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Prepare mortgage reconciliations, including escrow accounts, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Review and validate monthly management fee calculations for approval.

  • Prepare journal entries, including reclassifications, depreciation and amortization, and accruals.

  • Produce property financial reporting packages and other required financial information.

  • Analyze and report on account information and trends.

  • Assist in the annual budget process and year-end audit/tax requirements.

  • Complete and/or assist with special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi preferred).

  • Strong analytical and research skills.

  • High competency in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, flexible, and eager to learn.

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively and accurately in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines.
