Senior Property Accountant (Richmond, VA)
About Us
ProspectBlue is seeking a Senior Property Accountant on behalf of a client in the commercial real estate industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, detail-oriented accounting professional to join a dynamic team in Richmond, VA. The position reports directly to the Director of Property Accounting.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitor and reconcile property bank accounts; research and resolve reconciling items timely.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including capitalization of assets, and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare mortgage reconciliations, including escrow accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
Review and validate monthly management fee calculations for approval.
Prepare journal entries, including reclassifications, depreciation and amortization, and accruals.
Produce property financial reporting packages and other required financial information.
Analyze and report on account information and trends.
Assist in the annual budget process and year-end audit/tax requirements.
Complete and/or assist with special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi preferred).
Strong analytical and research skills.
High competency in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Highly organized, flexible, and eager to learn.
Demonstrated ability to work productively and accurately in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines.
