Job Description
ProspectBlue is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Probate Tax Paralegal to join the Private Wealth Services team within the Tax & Employee Benefits practice group at a reputable law firm in Richmond, VA. This is a non-client-facing, internal support role focused on estate and trust tax matters. The ideal candidate will have a background in probate filings, tax return preparation, and financial documentation, with a strong ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
This position is based in Richmond, VA, with a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote). Candidates must be located in or willing to commute to Richmond, VA or Charlottesville, VA. Please note: employees are responsible for parking costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare complex tax filings, including:
Estate tax returns
Gift tax returns
Income tax returns for estates and trusts
Prepare and review documents related to probate filings
Review and analyze valuations and financial documents/assets
Prepare and review accountings for estates and trusts
Assist attorneys and other paralegals with probate-related matters
Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable tax and probate regulations
Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive matters
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in a law firm environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to take direction and constructive feedback
Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting internal stakeholders
Preferred:
Experience preparing complex tax returns (estate, gift, income)
Familiarity with probate filings and estate/trust accountings
Background in accounting or financial analysis
Work Environment & Schedule:
Hybrid work model: 4 days in the office, 1 day remote
Must be located in or near Richmond or Charlottesville, VA
Regular full-time schedule
