ProspectBlue seeks a Senior Accountant for a client in Richmond, VA!

This is a key role for someone excited to roll up their sleeves, take ownership of the accounting function, and grow with a company that’s scaling quickly and evolving its operations. You’ll work directly with leadership (Owner, Director of Operations, and Head of PreCon) and play a big part in building the internal finance foundation from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

• Own the day-to-day accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, bank recs, and month-end close.
• Handle financial reporting, budgets, and forecasting.
• Prepare internal dashboards and performance reports (KPI tracking, variance analysis).
• Oversee WIP schedules, backlog reports, and job costing.
• Ensure accurate billing, revenue recognition, and retainage tracking.
• Work closely with Project Managers and the Director of Ops to support project-level financials.
• Collaborate with the external CPA firm for tax and audit support.
• Manage benefits and 401(k) administration.
• Help optimize workflows between accounting, PMs, and field ops using the company’s ERP system.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of accounting experience (industry agnostic, but construction/project-based background is a big plus).
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience with job cost accounting, WIP, and revenue recognition (or eagerness to learn).
• Proficiency with ERP systems — bonus points for Foundation, Sage 300 CRE, or Viewpoint.
• Someone hungry to grow, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, in-office environment.
• Great communicator and collaborator who thrives on a team.
