Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is an outside sales position responsible for overseeing the product spectrum in the Northwest region or customer group. In addition to revenue responsibilities, the role focuses on strategic region development and business sustainability.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct regular customer visits to:
- Build strong customer relationships.
- Identify and develop market opportunities.
- Improve product inclusion in customer specifications.
- Consistently maintain the customer relationship management (CRM) system, including:
- Create customer visit reports.
- Create and maintain customer folder information.
- Create and update customer opportunities and contact information.
- Ensure accurate preparation of commercial and technical offers, pursuing opportunities and negotiating pricing as needed.
- Assist in troubleshooting process failures, either by phone or on-site, in coordination with the complaint owner.
- Promptly share competitor product, market activity, and pricing information with the marketing department.
- Organize and support customer visits to company locations when necessary.
- Advise and manage independent sales representative firms in the designated region, when applicable.
- Attend and participate in exhibitions and expert conferences as required.
- Conduct training for colleagues (if applicable), customers, and agents (if applicable).
Preferred Education:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or extensive hands-on experience in the electrical power industry.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of industry outside sales experience, 10 years preferred, in substation apparatus and systems (transformer, breaker, relays, monitoring systems) or substation maintenance services.
- Preferred knowledge of transformer design, substation design, or On Load Tap Changer (OLTC) knowledge.
Required Skills:
- Business-fluent English; oral and written.
- Group presentation skills.
- 50% domestic travel expected, and a passport is required.
- Additional language skills are desirable.
- Sales-oriented, entrepreneurial attitude.
- Personal responsibility and management skills.
- Experience working with independent manufacturers representative firms is preferred.
- Confident and professional demeanor with customers.
