Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in product development
  • Previous experience in product development (design, analysis, validation)
  • Power Electronics design and development experience
  • Basic understanding of e-powertrain (electric drive) systems and components
  • Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
  • Component development experience (design, analysis, assembly, testing)
  • Familiarity with quality tools including FMEA, APQP & PPAP
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) issue resolution process
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership abilities

Job Description:

The primary function of a Power Electronics Components Engineer is to work with machine systems teams to establish converter requirements for e-powertrain systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power electronics design, development, and validation, as well as a basic understanding of electric drive systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with machine systems teams to define converter requirements for e-powertrain systems.
  • Perform analysis and evaluation to select the best supplier options.
  • Work with suppliers and system teams to develop production components from requirements definition to validation completion.
  • Support NTI (New Technology Introduction) & NPI (New Product Introduction) programs, including communication with NTI/NPI leads and preparation of design and gateway reviews.
  • Collaborate with the China team for electrical design, verification & validation plans, and functional evaluation.
  • Play an active role in supplier evaluation, selection, and development, which may involve limited travel.
  • Execute and support electrical commissioning and testing on purchased components.
  • Support APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities on purchased components in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Document and resolve field issues.
  • Manage procurement, inventory, and shipment of components.
  • Stay updated with the latest advances and market trends in e-powertrain DC converters and inverters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with inverters and motor drives for electric powertrain development.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation and development.
  • Power converter testing and validation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex assignments.
