Weld Inspector

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Weld Inspector (CWI or NDT Level 2 to perform visual inspections of welds, ensuring compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and client specifications. This role is critical in maintaining product integrity, quality, and reliability across steel, piping, and heavy manufacturing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct visual inspections of welds to identify defects (porosity, undercut, cracks, incomplete fusion).
  • Verify compliance with codes such as AWS D1.1, API 1104, ASME Section V.
  • Use precision tools (calipers, gauges) to confirm weld dimensions and fit-up.
  • Generate inspection reports and NCRs with accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and engineers to resolve quality issues.
  • Support root cause analysis of recurring weld defects.
  • Enforce safety policies and quality control standards.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or NDT Level II VT preferred.
  • Experience in weld inspection within steel, pipe, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
Skills & Requirements:

  • Knowledge of ANSI/AISC 360-16, ASME B31.3 & B31.9 standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam Revu, cloud-based systems.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in pipeline, structural steel, heavy equipment, or pressure vessel inspection.
  • Identifying weld defects.
