Boiler Technician – $35–$45/hour

Reports To: Plumbing Service Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities
- Boiler Installation:
- Install boilers and auxiliary equipment to maintain optimal performance.
- Control and adjust boiler processes to meet steam or hot water production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards during boiler operation.
- Maintenance and Inspection:
- Perform inspections of boilers and related components to identify and address potential issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Keep accurate maintenance records on customers' logbooks.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot boiler malfunctions, leaks, and other technical problems.
- Make necessary repairs or adjustments to restore boiler functionality.
- Coordinate with other maintenance personnel or contractors for major repairs or upgrades.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor and control boiler pressure, temperature, and other parameters to prevent accidents or equipment damage.
- Efficiency Optimization:
- Recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance boiler performance and reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document accurate records of boiler operation, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Generate reports on boiler performance, safety incidents, and maintenance schedules.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to boiler emergencies as assigned.
- Collaborate with emergency response teams as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant technical training or certification in boiler operations or maintenance.
- Knowledge of boiler systems, controls, and safety procedures.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Working Conditions
Boiler technicians typically work in settings such as multi-family residential buildings, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and commercial buildings. They may be exposed to high temperatures, noise, and potentially hazardous materials. Shift work and on-call duties may be required to ensure 24/7 boiler operation and maintenance.
