(QA/QC) Specialist – Mechanical Construction
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA/QC Specialist with experience in mechanical construction, welding quality assurance, and commissioning support. In this role, you will oversee quality plans, inspections, and documentation to ensure all mechanical installations, testing, and commissioning activities meet contract requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality projects on time and within compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Review and interpret job specifications, submittals, drawings, and flow diagrams for quality-related scopes.
- Implement and oversee the Project QC Plan to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor welding quality assurance, including WPS, PQR, Weld Logs, Weld Travelers, and related documentation.
- Oversee mechanical scopes, including subcontractor installations, to ensure compliance.
- Verify mechanical testing, flushing, and cleaning activities align with specifications.
- Manage non-conformance and corrective action programs to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain accurate and timely turnover documentation in digital and hard-copy formats.
Quality Control (QC):
- Conduct receiving inspections for incoming materials and equipment.
- Perform component verification for major equipment against approved submittals.
- Oversee welding QC measures and mechanical installations performed by subcontractors.
- Ensure quality compliance during all construction and installation phases.
Commissioning (as required):
- Witness and document Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate pipe flushing, cleaning, and disinfecting processes, including third-party vendors.
- Support mechanical start-up activities with vendors and commissioning groups.
- Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to execute commissioning workflows.
Qualifications & Education
- Mechanical knowledge and expertise (3-5 years).
- On-the-job training and ongoing educational support available.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, schematics, and flow diagrams.
- Familiarity with mechanical testing equipment and ability to interpret results.
- Excellent verbal and digital communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, BIM, and cloud-based servers.
- Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Flexibility for after-hours testing or commissioning activities when needed.
