Role Summary
As a Construction Accounting Manager you will lead financial operations and job cost management for our projects. This role ensures accurate reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting, and partners closely with project teams to drive profitability and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting expertise, leadership skills, and proficiency with industry-specific software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project accounting, including job costing, billing, and cost tracking

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes

  • Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and reports

  • Support WIP reporting and revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion or completed contract)

  • Collaborate with billing and AR teams to ensure contract compliance

  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and variances with Project Managers

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures

  • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and consultants as needed

  • Manage fixed asset and capital expenditure tracking

  • Mentor and provide guidance to accounting staff

  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support ERP system upgrades

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction accounting best practices

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track preferred)

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including construction or specialty contracting

  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job cost management, and WIP reporting

  • Experience with accounting/project management software (Sage 300, COINS, Timberline, Viewpoint, Foundation, Procore)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
