Sheetmetal Estimator
Seeking a Sheet Metal Estimator to join my client's growing team. This role is responsible for preparing and coordinating full estimates on large and complex sheet metal and HVAC projects, ensuring accurate bid pricing aligned with project documents and client expectations. You will review RFQs, RFPs, and bid documents, execute Quick pen take-offs, develop RFIs, and analyze costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate detailed estimates on large and complex projects.
- Review and evaluate RFQs, RFPs, and bid documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop RFIs to clarify missing or inconsistent contract information.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of estimates.
- Execute Quickpen (or similar software) take-offs for construction documents.
- Obtain competitive pricing for materials and subcontractor bids.
- Perform detailed cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain and update databases for labor and material costs.
- Develop pertinent clarifications and exclusions for estimates.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Review construction documents to fully understand the scope of work.
- Print documents and plans, preparing project turnover manuals.
- Attend departmental and project meetings as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of related estimating experience in sheet metal, HVAC, or mechanical construction, or a combination of education and expertise.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, bid front ends, scopes of work, safety programs, and QA/QC manuals.
- Knowledge of Quick pen or similar estimating software is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs accurately.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to speak effectively before groups, clients, and team members.
- Understanding of estimating techniques, bid strategies, and cost control practices.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
