Job Overview

We are seeking a Purchasing Agent with plumbing materials expertise to support procurement operations for our commercial construction projects. This role involves negotiating vendor contracts, tracking purchase orders, and ensuring materials are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate is highly organized, Excel-savvy, and experienced in the commercial plumbing or MEP supply chain sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Management: Source and purchase plumbing materials for commercial construction projects across Southeast Florida and the Tampa Bay region.

  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, conduct reorders, and avoid material shortages.

  • Vendor Negotiation: Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery timelines to maximize cost-efficiency.

  • Purchase Order Tracking: Generate and manage POs, follow up on shipments, and resolve backorders or delays promptly.

  • Cost Optimization: Analyze quotes, ensure invoice accuracy, and confirm that billed amounts reflect negotiated terms.

  • Quality Assurance: Inspect deliveries for accuracy and compliance with project specs, coordinating returns or exchanges as needed.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to align material orders with evolving project timelines.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized procurement records, delivery schedules, and vendor communications for compliance and transparency.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma required; coursework in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Construction Management is preferred.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of procurement experience in the plumbing trade, plumbing supply distribution, or mechanical contracting.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

    • Familiarity with inventory management systems and PO tracking tools

    • Strong written and verbal communication for vendor and internal coordination

  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, proactive, and skilled at multitasking in a fast-paced construction environment.
