HVAC Controls Technician
Location: Raleigh

An HVAC Controls Technician, also known as a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician, is a professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) control systems. These systems are designed to regulate and optimize the performance of heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

Here are some key responsibilities and skills associated with the role of an HVAC Controls Technician:

  1. Installation and Maintenance:
  • Install, program, and configure HVAC control systems, including thermostats, sensors, actuators, and controllers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure proper functioning of control systems.
  • Upgrade or replace outdated or malfunctioning components.
  1. Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC control systems.
  • Identify and resolve problems related to sensors, wiring, controllers, and communication protocols.
  • Use testing equipment to analyze and assess system performance.
  1. Programming:
  • Program and customize control systems to meet the specific requirements of a building.
  • Implement energy management strategies to optimize HVAC system efficiency.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in control system technologies.
  1. System Integration:
  • Integrate HVAC control systems with other building automation systems, such as lighting, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Ensure seamless communication between different components of the building automation network.
  1. Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, installations, and maintenance activities.
  • Create documentation for system operation, troubleshooting procedures, and user manuals.

A successful HVAC Controls Technician should have a strong understanding of HVAC principles, electronics, and control systems. Experience:

  • HVAC Controls: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • EPA Certification (Preferred)
  • Unrestricted Driver License (Required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Supplemental Pay: Overtime pay
