Job Summary: 

An HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in commercial, and industrial settings. These professionals ensure that HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely, providing a comfortable and climate-controlled environment for clients. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Installation: Install new HVAC systems and components in commercial buildings, ensuring proper sizing, configuration, and compliance with relevant codes and regulations. 
  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to extend their lifespan and prevent breakdowns. This includes cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components. 
  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair HVAC system malfunctions, including identifying and replacing faulty components such as compressors, motors, fans, and thermostats. 
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions to ensure systems operate efficiently. 
  • Refrigerant Handling: Safely handle and recover refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service and maintenance activities, including equipment specifications, repair work performed, and parts used. 
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with clients to understand their HVAC needs, explain repair and maintenance procedures, and provide cost estimates for services. 
  • Emergency Response: Be available for emergency HVAC service calls, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to address critical system failures. 
  • Compliance: Ensure that all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. 
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with advancements in HVAC technology, equipment, and industry best practices through training and professional development. 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Completion of a formal HVAC technician training program or apprenticeship. 
  • Relevant HVAC certifications (e.g., EPA 608 Certification). 
  • State or local HVAC licensing, if required. 
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and components. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills. 
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment. 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. 
  • Valid driver's license. 
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and occasional overtime. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with a variety of HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and split systems. 
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS). 
  • Computer proficiency for system diagnostics and reporting.
