Job Description
Job Title: Camera Software Developer (Linux C++ / Python, Motion Control)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
We’re seeking a highly technical Camera Software Developer to support advanced imaging, streaming, and motion-control systems. This role spans aero-facing camera software in C++, Python/GStreamer development for video pipelines, and contributions to existing projects that require cleanup, refactoring, and branching. Candidates should be experienced working in Linux environments and capable of building real-time, high-performance imaging software that relies on modern codecs such as H.265.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Linux-based C++ camera software for aero imaging systems.
- Build and refine video streaming pipelines using Python and GStreamer, with a focus on H.265 (HEVC) rather than H.264.
- Support motion-control components involved in camera operation and system positioning.
- Work through existing codebases that require cleanup, re-organization, branching, and stability improvements.
- Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning across camera drivers, imaging pipelines, and real-time streaming components.
- Contribute to light embedded work when needed (but less than a dedicated firmware developer).
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure smooth integration across hardware, software, and platform components.
What You Bring
- Strong Linux C++ development experience.
- Proficiency in Python, including building or modifying GStreamer pipelines.
- Familiarity with H.265 (HEVC) video processing, encoding, and streaming.
- Understanding of motion-control concepts and their relationship to imaging systems.
- Ability to debug complex, performance-sensitive imaging and streaming workflows.
- Experience working in or around embedded environments (not full firmware-level, but hardware-aware).
- Experience with camera sensors, SDKs, or hardware-level video systems.
- Educational background in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the following industries is beneficial but not required: Aerospace, Automative, Defense
