Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Tempe, AZ (in-office with travel up to 30% of the time)
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical support and maintenance of all ASRC and subsidiary enterprise network infrastructure and related systems.
Your role:
- Design, deploy and manage all company switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, cable plants, and network management systems across a wide range of complex architectures, platforms and mediums.
- Lead engineer on assigned network upgrade projects.
- Mentor and train junior network engineering staff to ensure they have the tools to be successful.
- Effective communication skills and customer service with the ability to communicate IT issues to Sr IT Leadership.
- Define and follow standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodology.
- Document the environment as needed.
- Manage cloud networking components, native and vendor appliances, to ensure connectivity between systems.
- Provide day to day support to ASRC IT customers by ensuring IT service tickets assigned are being addressed and resolved within established SLA parameters.
- Installs, configures, manages and troubleshoots various network, infrastructure, hardware and software components.
- Respond to service/work requests that fall into the Network Administration queue in a timely fashion.
- Support various business units across the company.
- Manage critical escalations to 3rd Parties and vendor support when required.
- Works directly with Telco/ISP to troubleshoot existing or onboard new services.
- Balance the ability to provide day-to-day support and quickly respond to new issues, while still ensuring that project efforts are delivered on time with high quality
- Effectively use monitoring/administrative tools to maintain network uptime and efficiency.
- Configure and deploy routers and switches
What you’ve got:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field, with 8–10 years of progressively responsible IT experience. Equivalent education and experience may substitute.
- Strong background with Cisco hardware and IOS configuration/troubleshooting; CCNA/CCNP/CCDP certifications preferred.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki hardware and configuration preferred.
- Expertise with VLAN, VPN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and QoS.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Nexus and Catalyst switches, ASA firewalls, and 802.11 wireless systems.
- Proficiency with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama centralized management.
- Deep knowledge of spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, BGP, VTP, EtherChannel, STP, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, multicast, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, and related protocols.
- Preferred experience with Cisco Data Center technologies including Nexus, virtualization, and FCoE.
- Familiarity with standards-based network monitoring and management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create documentation and present to groups effectively.
- Data Center routing and switching experience
- Network security experience
- An ability to think critically about systems and to make adjustments consistently as needed.
