Job Title: QA Analyst (Database Testing Focus)

Phoenix, AZ - Hybrid, Local Candidates Only

We are seeking a QA Analyst with strong hands-on experience in backend database testing and a collaborative mindset to join a public-sector team. This hybrid role requires local candidates who can attend in-person meetings and are available for on-site interviews within one week of posting close. This role blends quality assurance and business analysis, with a strong emphasis on backend database testing. You’ll be designing test plans, performing UAT, validating data across systems, and helping shape processes to ensure enterprise-grade quality across platform

Your role:

  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts focused on backend database and data pipeline validation
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Identify, track, and document defects, usability concerns, and performance issues
  • Analyze business processes, gather requirements, and translate them into clear documentation and actionable user stories
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure solutions align with business needs and technical specifications
  • Define test data needs, dependencies, and flows to support end-to-end testing
  • Recommend and implement improvements to QA and business analysis processes
  • Evaluate automation opportunities and support the rollout of approved test automation tools
  • Maintain detailed documentation across test efforts, requirements, and QA standards
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives within the QA lifecycle

What you’ve got:

  • Proven hands-on experience in backend database testing, including validation of tables, views, and ETL pipelines
  • Strong SQL skills with expertise in SQL Server 2008 R2 & 2016
  • Familiarity with Microsoft development tools including Visual Studio, TFS/VSTS, SSIS, and SSRS
  • Experience testing or supporting .NET-based applications and working in Windows Server environments
  • Understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
