Job Title: QA Analyst (Database Testing Focus)
Location: Phoenix, AZ - Hybrid, Local Candidates Only
We are seeking a QA Analyst with strong hands-on experience in backend database testing and a collaborative mindset to join a public-sector team. This hybrid role requires local candidates who can attend in-person meetings and are available for on-site interviews within one week of posting close. You’ll be designing test plans, performing UAT, validating data across systems, and helping shape processes to ensure enterprise-grade quality across platform
Your role:
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts focused on backend database and data pipeline validation
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts in collaboration with business stakeholders
- Identify, track, and document defects, usability concerns, and performance issues
- Analyze business processes, gather requirements, and translate them into clear documentation and actionable user stories
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure solutions align with business needs and technical specifications
- Define test data needs, dependencies, and flows to support end-to-end testing
- Recommend and implement improvements to QA and business analysis processes
- Evaluate automation opportunities and support the rollout of approved test automation tools
- Maintain detailed documentation across test efforts, requirements, and QA standards
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives within the QA lifecycle
What you’ve got:
- Proven hands-on experience in backend database testing, including validation of tables, views, and ETL pipelines
- Strong SQL skills with expertise in SQL Server 2008 R2 & 2016
- Familiarity with Microsoft development tools including Visual Studio, TFS/VSTS, SSIS, and SSRS
- Experience testing or supporting .NET-based applications and working in Windows Server environments
- Understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
- Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
