Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
We’re seeking a Data Scientist to help uncover insights and drive decisions by leveraging a rich history of observational data. This role involves developing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models, along with coding in Python, to extract maximum value from both existing and historical data sources.
- Gather and integrate data from various internal systems and external APIs, preparing it for use in reporting, analytics, optimization, and modeling.
- Assist in building data pipelines by developing scripts for data transformation and modeling.
- Apply analytical thinking and quantitative methods to solve complex data challenges by combining technical, statistical, and problem-solving expertise.
- Leverage advanced knowledge of machine learning, statistics, simulation, optimization, clustering, classification, and recommendation systems.
- Work with high-volume, multi-dimensional data sets using diverse tools and platforms.
- Present analytical findings to stakeholders clearly and implement iterative improvements to outputs, models, and visualizations.
- Design and refine processes for large-scale data analysis, model development, testing, and deployment.
- Stay informed on industry trends and innovations in data science, evaluating the effectiveness of new tools, data sources, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development practices.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience working in Azure DevOps environments.
- Background in handling and analyzing large datasets.
- Skilled in using BI tools such as Power BI to explore and present data.
- Ability to simplify and visualize complex datasets for clear business insight.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Clear and effective communicator.
- Experience with data governance and data handling tools.
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms and applications.
- Knowledge of collaborative coding practices, including version control with Git.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with platforms like Snowflake and Dataiku.
- Master’s degree in Data Science or a related field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, social sciences, or engineering.
- At least 3 years of professional, non-academic experience in a data-focused role.
