Job Title: IT System/Network Administrator Job Type: PermanentLocation: Onsite in Phoenix, AZ
The IT System/Network Administrator will be accountable for overseeing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, with a special emphasis on supporting CMMC compliance initiatives. This role includes configuring and managing system setups, network infrastructure, and security measures to guarantee the integrity, availability, and security of IT systems. The IT System/Network Administrator will closely collaborate with IT Security, Compliance teams, and external service providers to uphold a secure and efficient IT environment. This position is perfect for a proactive, technically skilled individual who excels in hands-on management of IT systems and supports the organization's advancement towards CMMC compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy new IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems.
- Develop and execute plans for introducing new platforms and systems.
- Document and design network architectures and system configurations for the new environment.
- Establish and follow best practices for system and network setups, focusing on CMMC compliance.
- Work with stakeholders to determine IT infrastructure needs for the new environment.
- Implement and manage system configurations based on security baselines for servers, workstations, and network devices.
- Oversee network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches, and enforce boundary protection measures.
- Implement and uphold access control policies, managing user accounts and enforcing principles of least privilege.
- Conduct routine system maintenance, including software updates, hardware upkeep, and performance tuning.
- Handle backup processes for essential systems and data, ensuring effective recovery procedures to maintain business continuity.
- Coordinate and execute patch management to address security vulnerabilities and preserve system integrity.
- Apply technical security controls to IT systems as outlined by organizational policies and CMMC requirements.
- Design and enforce network segmentation to safeguard critical assets and minimize the risk of security incidents.
- Implement and manage encryption for data both at rest and in transit, ensuring proper key management and adherence to approved algorithms.
- Configure system logging to facilitate security monitoring and auditing requirements.
- Keep an inventory of physical IT assets, including logging and tracking.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT system and network administration.
- Practical experience with server and network infrastructure management tools.
- Experience with Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022) and Linux server management (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu)
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching.
- Experience setting up and configuring VPN solutions (preferably experience with Cisco VPN or similar), experience with Firewall configuration and deployment (experience with any major firewall vendor), and Network segmentation implementation
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms. (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proven ability to design and implement network architectures.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Experience implementing and managing endpoint protection solutions such as Microsoft Defender (or enterprise level EDR/AV)
- Experience in deploying enterprise-level IPS/IDS solutions or open source solutions such as Snort, Bro, or Security Onion)
- Familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools focused on log collection or audit generation (preferred, not required)
- Implementation of multi-factor authentication experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or MCSE.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in environments requiring regulatory compliance (e.g., CMMC, NIST).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Experience in implementing and managing security controls in IT environments.
Experience:
- Proven experience in IT system and network administration.
- Demonstrated success in designing and building new IT environments.
- Experience in system hardening and secure configuration management.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven IT environments.
- Experience working with or managing Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks, particularly CMMC and NIST 800-53.
- Experience in developing and maintaining IT policies and procedures.
