Title: Network Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)
Our client is seeking a contract Network Engineer to perform tasks related to deploying new technologies and upgrades to the current network infrastructure. There will be lots of interaction with internal staff and vendors, but no requirement for being in the field. Typical working hours are 7am 4pm and eventually will include one 11pm 4am shift per week.
Your role:
- Perform implementation of new hardware and/or software as it relates to network engineering projects.
- Maintain the lifecycle management environment within the data center and local offices; assist with upgrades to infrastructure and all-inclusive IP routing.
- Assist with the creation of Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for configuration templates, method of procedures, network diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials, and support documentation.
- Complete device requests and remotely walk on-site Technicians/Engineers through the installation process.
- Analyze project requests to estimate time and cost.
- Conduct audits to determine which equipment can be removed from the network.
- Work as part of a project team to determine requirements, risks, and limitations for each project scope.
- Perform on-call duties, customer equipment escalations, and overnight network changes as assigned.
What youve got:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area of study; equivalent experience may substitute for education requirement.
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in a Network Engineering role.
- Must be skilled in Cisco, Layer 1-3 IP Networking, Wireless Wi-Fi Networking, and GPON/XGS-PON.
- Network design and implementation project experience in one or more of the following areas switching, commercial service offerings, passive optical network, data center networking.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships.
- Ability to troubleshoot escalated issues in relation to PON, business services, data center, and switching.
- Strong analytical and scripting skills.
- A positive attitude and the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Experience with the following products preferred: routing platforms from Juniper and Cisco, advanced switching products from Juniper and Cisco, Vecima and Calix PON, Ciena, and Adva equipment.
- Experience with IPv4, IPv6, DWDM, SDN, and other relevant technologies and/or standards preferred.
- Certifications such as CCT and CCNA are a plus.
