Estimator – Steel Fabrication & Heavy Engineering

Turn enquiries into projects and play a key role in keeping production moving.

We're looking for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established steel fabrication and engineering business based in Ashhurst. This is a hands-on role where you'll be at the centre of project delivery, preparing accurate quotations, managing a steady workflow, and helping secure work that keeps the workshop and site teams busy.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing accurate and competitive quotes for fabrication and engineering projects ranging from $1,000 to $100,000
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Building labour, material, and subcontractor pricing using established estimating systems
• Working closely with the Senior Estimator, production, and operations teams to ensure smooth project handovers
• Managing multiple tenders and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Supporting continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems

What we're looking for

• Previous estimating experience within steel fabrication, engineering, manufacturing, or construction
• Strong Excel capability and confidence working with ERP or job management systems
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to work collaboratively across the business
