Senior Project Engineer - Civil and Environmental
Location: North Auckland
Are you a forward-thinking engineer with a passion for sustainability and infrastructure? We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the design, planning, and execution of cutting-edge environmental infrastructure projects based in North Auckland.
You’ll be responsible for the design and delivery of critical infrastructure projects, with a focus on optimising waste processing, improving resource recovery, and driving initiatives that support New Zealand's circular economy.
About the Role:
- Infrastructure Development: Lead the design and construction of critical waste management infrastructure ensuring environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
- Project Management: Lead all aspects of project delivery, including contractor management, procurement, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and environmental regulations. You'll manage projects from conception through design and construction to commissioning, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
- Innovation & R&D: Contribute to pioneering research into methane gas capture and sustainable landfill practices using cutting-edge laser technology and drones. Additionally, you'll lead efforts on new technologies to reduce environmental impact and improve circular economy initiatives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead collaboration with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external project partners to ensure projects meet environmental standards and industry best practices. You'll also lead regulatory liaison and compliance, ensuring all projects meet legal requirements and sustainability goals.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, cost tracking, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. You’ll also be responsible for preparing project financial reports, including forecasts and any changes to the project scope.
- Contract Management & Tendering: Assist with the preparation of contract documentation, technical reports, construction timelines, drawings, and specifications.
- HSE Responsibilities: Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across all projects. You will work within a safety-first culture, adhering to safety protocols and promoting risk management practices on site.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Extensive experience in civil engineering, infrastructure development, or environmental engineering.
- Knowledge of NZS 3910 (or similar) conditions of contract
- Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, 12D, project management software, and a strong understanding of environmental compliance.
- Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Innovation-Driven Mindset: Enthusiasm for working with emerging technologies such as drones and laser-based methane detection systems.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional Saturdays during peak project periods and travel when required.
