About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with proven experience in commercial plumbing estimating, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Bid Management

• Determine which projects to bid in coordination with the Vice President of Pre-Construction.
• Prepare accurate, detailed bid packages including labor, material, subcontractor, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Analyze blueprints, project specifications, and scope to determine job costs and timelines.
• Ensure all bids are submitted within deadlines and include the correct documentation (bonds, insurance, etc.).
• Incorporate lead times and construction schedules into estimates.
• Monitor actual project costs against original estimates for accuracy and ongoing improvement.
• Build in appropriate profit margins to ensure job profitability.
• Maintain accurate bid logs, job histories, and estimate documentation.

Client & Vendor Relations

• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers to ensure competitive pricing.
• Represent the company in a professional manner during pre-bid walkthroughs and client interactions.
• Provide insightful recommendations to the executive team to improve project success rates and profitability.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in estimating commercial plumbing projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, drawings, and construction documentation.
• Strong mathematical skills for pricing, calculations, and budgeting.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and estimating software platforms.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards and job site requirements.
• Professional demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
