Job Description

The Opportunity

This is a senior technology leadership opportunity within a large, privately held Canadian organization operating in a highly complex, asset- and project-intensive environment. With thousands of employees, a national footprint, and a reputation for delivering critical infrastructure and long-term services, the organization is entering a period of accelerated growth and modernization.

Over the next two years, the business is expected to significantly scale revenue and operations, driven by major, multi-year projects and expanded service lines. To support this transformation, the organization is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to elevate technology, data, and digital capability into a core strategic enabler.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial & Strategy Officer and partnering closely with the executive leadership team, the CIO will define and execute a multi-year technology and data roadmap aligned to growth, safety, operational performance, and project delivery.

The mandate is transformational. The CIO will evolve IT from a historically decentralized, support-focused function into a scalable, enterprise-wide platform that enables real-time insight, disciplined execution, and consistent performance across corporate offices, operational teams, and field-based project sites nationwide.

The role can be based in Ottawa or Toronto and requires regular on-site presence across locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver a multi-year enterprise technology and data strategy

  • Build a scalable IT operating model across operations, cybersecurity, data/analytics, and business solutions

  • Establish data governance, quality standards, and executive-level dashboards

  • Lead cloud-first architecture across ERP, HRIS, collaboration, and field technologies

  • Strengthen cybersecurity, business continuity, and risk management frameworks

  • Elevate IT service delivery and stakeholder confidence across the organization

  • Build and lead a high-performing technology leadership team

  • Act as a strategic advisor to executives and operational leaders, driving adoption and change

The Ideal Candidate

  • Senior technology executive (CIO/CTO/SVP) with experience leading enterprise-scale transformation

  • Background in construction, engineering, infrastructure, industrial services, manufacturing, or other capital- and project-intensive environments strongly preferred

  • Proven success modernizing legacy systems and lifting digital maturity to data-driven performance

  • Confident, credible leader able to influence executives, operational leaders, and field teams

  • Strategic yet hands-on, with a track record of translating vision into measurable outcomes

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead technology transformation at scale within a Canadian success story at a pivotal moment in its growth. With strong executive sponsorship, meaningful autonomy, and real investment, the CIO will play a central role in shaping how technology, data, and insight enable performance across a complex, national organization — and leave a lasting enterprise-wide legacy.
