This role is well suited for a construction professional with a strong civil and commercial construction background who can lead projects from early planning through closeout, confidently direct A/E partners, and manage cost, schedule, and risk with urgency and precision.

The position is hybrid, based near Grand Rapids, MI, with periodic onsite collaboration and travel to project location

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key resource to internal design teams and external architecture and engineering firms throughout design development and construction

  • Lead commercial construction projects from early planning through final closeout

  • Develop detailed construction estimates, budgets, and cost projections

  • Administer construction purchase orders and manage procurement processes

  • Oversee pre-construction, construction, and post-construction activities

  • Manage project reporting, including risk strategy, bid results, job costs, schedule progress, and closeout documentation

  • Coordinate closely with business partners to support successful field execution

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including stormwater pollution prevention, safety requirements, and permitting

  • Maintain strict control of schedules and budgets while proactively identifying and mitigating project risk

  • Manage project closeout, including final reporting, warranty administration, and document retention compliance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred)

  • 3–5 years of proven success in construction project management

  • Strong civil construction experience (required), with the ability to guide and influence design with architecture and engineering partners

  • Experience initiating projects from the ground up, including early planning and design coordination

  • Background in commercial construction; experience across civil development, greenfield sites, or turnkey projects is highly valued

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead discussions, drive decisions, and act with urgency

  • Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and project risk with close attention to detail

  • Familiarity with commercial construction practices and project management/accounting systems
