Process Engineer / Senior Process Engineer – Thermoforming & Plastics Manufacturing

Locations: Lansing, MI | Randleman, NC | Leola, PA | Remote (with travel)

 A leading manufacturer in the food and beverage packaging space is hiring Process Engineers and Senior Process Engineers to support and improve high-volume thermoforming and plastics manufacturing operations across multiple facilities. This is a hands-on role for engineers who enjoy owning equipment, solving real plant-floor problems, and leading projects from concept through full-scale production.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead moderate to large-scale engineering and capital projects, from concept through installation and commissioning
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and support thermoforming and plastics production equipment and processing lines
  • Design, improve, and document manufacturing processes, SOPs, test plans, and control strategies
  • Support new product introductions, process scale-ups, and plant trials
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, yield, and cost
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams
  • Serve as a technical owner for assigned equipment, processes, or product families


What You Bring
Process Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or Associate’s degree with 9+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with production equipment, process troubleshooting, and data-driven improvement
  • Working knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, 8D
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing; thermoforming exposure strongly preferred

Senior Process Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or Associate’s degree with 12+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proven success leading complex equipment, CapEx, and process improvement initiatives
  • Strong technical depth across manufacturing processes and quality methodologies
  • Ability to operate independently in a multi-site, high-visibility role


Preferred Experience

  • Direct experience in thermoforming plastics manufacturing (thermoformed cup experience is a strong plus)
  • Background in injection molding, print, or high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Experience supporting new product introductions
  • Familiarity with CAD and/or process simulation tools
