This position will also work with the Own Brand Foods QA team as a subject matter expert for Meijer brand food products as it pertains to the physical, chemical, and organoleptic properties of food. Job Description What You'll be Doing:

• Participate in building a strong strategic regulatory compliance program that meets Meijer’s business needs.
• Keep current on developments and emerging issues in the food regulatory environment and identify regulatory-related business opportunities.
• Provide regulatory input on projects, providing regulatory compliance and scientific guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Support current and new initiatives on regulatory issues and opportunities for product claims that are compliant with or permitted by relevant laws and regulations.
• Create ingredient line and nutrition information for the nutrition facts panel to ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Manage the review of all Meijer-owned formulas to confirm accuracy; review associated claims to ensure accuracy and alignment with Meijer Own Brand strategies; ensure all labeling information is accurate and properly presented.
• Review package graphics for accuracy and specific requirements to ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Execute the Product Quality Review program regarding evaluations of Meijer Own Brand food products against National Brand targets, or other defined targets, for Quality and Nutritional parameters.
• Evaluate and report the nutritional value, appearance, color, flavor, and texture of foods through Product Quality Reviews, Product Cuttings, and/or other assessments.
• Monitor, report, and assist when needed as the technical resource for Meijer brand complaints.
• Monitor potential changes to laws/regulations affecting the food industry; alert the company of same and prepare responses to proposed changes as appropriate.
• Effectively communicate across technical and non-technical audiences internally and externally.
• Work with QA/Compliance leadership, Product Development, and Merchandising to understand the strategic direction of Meijer’s food business.

• Bachelor’s Science Degree, with a focus in Nutrition, Food, Regulatory Science.
• 3-5 year experience in FDA and USDA Food Regulations.
• Knowledge of FDA and USDA Food Safety and Regulations with a strong working knowledge of label requirements.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices preferred.
• Knowledge of food production and processing.
• Strong working knowledge of food science.
• Knowledge and ability to perform sensory testing on food products.
• Able to manage complex scientific information.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Highly organized; able to manage several competing requests and prioritize accordingly.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to work across all divisions and levels of the organization.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint preferred.
• Experience with Genesis preferred.
• Able to learn company systems and tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
