Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead BIM/VDC Coordinator to oversee and execute 3D electrical modeling and coordination efforts across multiple projects. This individual will work independently to interpret architectural and engineering documents, generate detailed electrical 3D models, and ensure seamless coordination with other trades to deliver clash-free construction documents.
Key Responsibilities
BIM Coordination & Modeling
- Attend project coordination meetings and represent the electrical trade in model review sessions.
- Create, manage, and update electrical 3D models using Revit and AutoCAD based on design drawings and redlines.
- Perform clash detection using Navisworks and resolve coordination issues in collaboration with other trades.
- Develop sign-off and install drawings for GC approval and field installation.
- Support design/build projects by collaborating with in-house engineering and field teams.
- Identify and document prefabrication opportunities, and generate spool drawings for prefab and field use.
Project & Team Support
- Upload models and related documents per GC BIM requirements and schedule.
- Ensure timely delivery of all project milestones and BIM deliverables.
- Create As-Built drawings in AutoCAD and Revit based on field redlines and finalize for project closeout.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, foremen, and prefab shops to align BIM efforts with construction execution.
- Maintain quality control across all modeling and coordination output for assigned projects.
Leadership & Training
- Provide guidance and support to junior BIM coordinators and drafters.
- Participate in training efforts and help foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Exercise strong judgment in decision-making for modeling and coordination challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical 3D modeling and coordination.
- Proven experience independently managing BIM coordination for complex MEP projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and construction sequencing.
- Strong understanding of BIM coordination processes and field implementation
