Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for an Industrial Engineering Technician for a position located in Amarillo, Texas. The Industrial Engineering Technician install, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems supporting communications and network infrastructure.
The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate will have 5 years of electrical construction, telecommunications, structured cabling, or related field experience.
Industrial Engineering Technician Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings.
- Install conduit, cable tray, grounding systems, raceways, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, utility standards, and local electrical codes.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical systems supporting telecommunications equipment.
- Install, terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Perform CAT6A, CAT7, multimode, and single-mode fiber installations.
- Conduct fiber splicing, OTDR testing, power meter testing, and certification testing.
- Install, maintain, and support MDF, IDF, communications shelters, data center, and network room infrastructure.
- Maintain cable management, labeling, and documentation standards in accordance with BICSI and company requirements.
- Support communication infrastructure projects in substations, generation facilities, operations centers, service centers, and other company facilities.
- Assist with WAN, LAN, SCADA, radio, microwave, security, and utility communication infrastructure deployments.
- Coordinate work with engineers, communication technicians, contractors, and project managers.
- Perform site surveys and evaluate infrastructure requirements.
- Perform certification testing of installed infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings, records, test documentation, and system inventories.
- Document deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all installations meet company quality and workmanship standards.
- Follow all company safety procedures and utility work practices.
- Participate in job hazard assessments and safety briefings.
- Maintain qualified worker status and required certifications.
- Ensure all work is completed in a safe, neat, and workmanlike manner.
Requirements of the Industrial Engineering Technician:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, apprenticeship, or vocational training required.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical construction, telecommunications, structured cabling, or related field experience.
- Experience with both copper and fiber optic communications systems.
- Experience reading electrical and telecommunications drawings.
- Journeyman Electrician License (where required by state or local jurisdiction).
- BICSI Technician (TECH) Certification required.
- Thorough understanding of AC and DC electrical systems, circuits, and electrical safety practices.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards including ANSI/TIA and BICSI best practices.
- Proficiency in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Preferred certifications include BICSI Installer 2 Copper, BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber, BICSI RCDD, Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certifications, Fluke certification testing experience, and manufacturer certifications such as CommScope, Corning, Panduit, and Leviton.
