Job Description

One Tech Engineering is searching for an Energy & Utility Consulting Director for a position located in Brea, San Diego, Walnut Creek, or Los Angeles, California. The Energy & Utility Consulting Director will manage and provide expertise and professional development to a team of consultants and analysts in managing project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates, and client relations.

 

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related degree and 13+ years of relevant consulting experience.

 

Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Energy & Utility Consulting Director Responsibilities:

  • Organize and direct consulting projects, including pursuit, negotiation, execution, cost, schedule, and quality of deliverables.
  • Facilitate workshop sessions with senior-level client teams to understand requirements, identify needs, and develop actionable plans.
  •  Anticipate client challenges and provide strategic, innovative, and impactful solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with project personnel and department management, coordinating with internal and external subject matter experts to pursue and deliver consulting projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications and client interactions.
  • Compile, distribute, and present status reports covering project progress, schedule, cost, and budget impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, continuous learning, and a willingness to take strategic risks to drive personal and professional growth.
  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities across multiple disciplines, and ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
  • Provide performance feedback to personnel managers and contribute to the development of training curricula and materials for consultants and analysts.
  • Foster diverse perspectives, opinions, and experiences within project teams.
  • Oversee third-party vendors and subcontractors, including contracts, scope, schedule, budget, and identification of upselling or cross-selling opportunities.
  • Solve complex and ambiguous problems using modern tools, technologies, and best practices to create clarity and momentum.
  • Ensure timely processing of prime contract, subcontractor, and supplier invoicing in alignment with agreements.
  • Provide managerial direction and work assignments to consultants and analysts.
Requirements of the Energy & Utility Consulting Director:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field from an accredited program.
    MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 13 years of relevant consulting experience.
  • Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.
  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts.
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
