Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for an Environmental Scientist Assistant for a position located in Columbus, Ohio. The Environmental Scientist Assistant will do environmental compliance monitoring of utility-scale solar projects.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Biology Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Environmental Scientist Assistant Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and permit conditions.
- Minimize impacts to environmental, cultural, and biological resources, and verify adherence to environmental commitments made to regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
- Conduct inspections and maintain required documentation.
- Review and inspect the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs).
- Provide oversight of spill prevention and response measures.
- Ensure permit and regulatory compliance is maintained throughout the project.
- Track and verify adherence to all permit conditions.
- Perform daily site walkthroughs to observe and monitor ongoing construction activities.
- Conduct field observations and report on environmental compliance.
- Identify, document, and report instances of non-compliance.
- Prepare clear and concise daily logs, inspection reports, and issue tracking documentation.
- Attend bi-weekly project team meetings and draft corresponding bi-weekly inspection reports.
Requirements of the Environmental Scientist Assistant:- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field from an accredited program is required.
- 1-4 years in environmental compliance monitoring, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- Must have knowledge NPDES SWPPP/ESCP permitting.
- Familiarity with Ohio environmental regulations and permitting requirements: Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, USACE Permitting, Ohio EPA and ODNR requirements.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- OSHA 10 certification is a nice-to-have.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
