Job Description

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Senior Aluminum Welder whose home base can be located in the lower 48. This position will travel from project to project supporting substation work. The Senior Aluminum Welder will be responsible for all mechanical aspects of projects including demo of old equipment, layout, rigging/setting of new equipment, and welding of aluminum conductors. 

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have 5+ Years leading field service personnel with knowledge of OSHA standards and PPE in substation construction or electrical bus installation. 


Senior Aluminum Welder Responsibilities:

  • Function as the on-site leader for all job execution including safety, quality and work efficiency. 
  • Ensure all assigned personnel have met all company mandated requirements to perform work on-site.
  • Job planning including labor, material, and subcontractors as required. 
  • Ability to perform and direct work on-site as required. 
  • Work effectively alongside assigned team, other crafts on-site, and other regional team members. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Interpret construction, welding, and electrical drawings, and take or read measurements according to plan layout and procedures. 
  • Determine appropriate equipment needed for project execution to include welding, test equipment, consumables or other equipment as required. 
  • Supervise and/or perform on-site rigging, lifting, setting, alignment, and fit of equipment in position according to drawings and specifications. 
  • Supervise and/or perform welding aluminum components in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead, 6G test required).
  • Ensure all equipment utilized on-site is maintained and inspect daily for damage or safety concerns. 
  • Ensure all required job reports completed as directed by the company to include JSA, Daily Time Sheets or other requirements as needed. 
  • Ensure all company vehicles are operated safely and within company policy. 

Requirements of the Senior Aluminum Welder:

  • 5+ Years leading/supervising field service personnel with knowledge of OSHA standards and PPE in substation construction or electrical bus installation. 
  • 5+ Years experience welding aluminum using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG) with ability to pass company welding test.
  • Experience with rigging procedures, best practices in an industrial environment. 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Familiar with medium and high voltage electrical equipment.
    Up to 75% travel required throughout the continental USA. 
  • Keen eye to identify non-compliance with regulations or standards and ability to suggest solutions for deficiencies or problems. 
  • Valid and current driver’s license.
  • OSHA 10 / 30 is preferred. 
  • Ability to hold a TWIC card.
