Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for a Payroll Assistant for a position located in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Payroll Assistant will receive documents and forms and maintain employee records in the ERP/Payroll system. They will also provide general payroll support to the weekly payroll process and monthly union remittances.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of accounting and/or payroll experience, or pursuit of Associates or Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Payroll Assistant Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with field management staff to collect, review, and save union new hire paperwork.
- Ensure information is complete and accurate, following up on any issues or missing information.
- Document Social Security verifications in employee master file.
- Verify union I-9 forms have been completed according to government regulations and documented in the ERP system.
- Follow up with field management staff on any errors or inconsistencies.
- Create union employee records in ERP system.
- Ensures demographics, union details, and project assignment data is correct and complete.
- Submit new hire reports to state agencies.
- Update employee records as needed including personal data, withholdings, assignment transfers, and severance or termination information.
- Request missing severance notices for union employees no longer employed to ensure ERP employee list is as accurate.
- Respond to and resolve union employee payroll inquiries.
- Provide support to payroll team as needed during weekly processing and monthly union remittances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements of the Payroll Assistant:
- High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of accounting and/or payroll experience, or pursuit of Associates or Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
- Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
