Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for a Field Mechanical Engineer for a position located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Field Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation of the gas turbine and reciprocating engines.
The candidate must be a US citizen or hold a green card. The candidate should have at least 10 years of commissioning and construction experience, ideally with industrial frame gas turbines or reciprocating engines.
Field Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Ensure coordination with electrical installations, as they are integral to the mechanical erection process.
- Monitor the progress of foundation completion to ensure readiness for equipment installation.
- Supervise the setting, alignment, and commissioning of major equipment.
- Facilitate the transition from mechanical erection to commissioning and startup activities.
- Oversee the successful mechanical erection and integration of new equipment at the facility.
- Conduct site inspections to verify that installation contractors are adhering to project specifications, safety standards, and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with the on-site construction manager to manage daily logistics and ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities, progress, and any issues encountered.
- Prepare reports for project management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and actions taken to resolve issues.
- Participate in coordination meetings with installation contractors and suppliers to review progress, address concerns, and plan next steps.
- Ensure all parties are aligned with the project schedule and contractual obligations to meet project milestones.
Requirements of the Field Mechanical Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- 10+ years of commissioning and construction experience, ideally with industrial frame gas turbines or reciprocating engines, or similar heavy industrial experience, such as in petrochemical refineries or other heavy industrial processes.
- Previous experience managing contracts and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Hands-on-site engineering experience, preferably with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) like GE or Siemens, or with a construction contractor.
- Familiarity with technical drawings, manuals, and other documentation, primarily in PDF format.
- Ability to quickly and efficiently resolve technical issues on-site by reaching out to the correct resources and driving solutions to completion.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with multiple companies and individuals on-site, including suppliers' technical representatives.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
- Experience with industrial frame gas turbines or reciprocating engines is highly preferred.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
