Position Summary:
As an Outpatient Coder, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely coding of outpatient medical records, including Same Day Surgery (SDS), Observation (OBS), Ambulatory (ANC), and Emergency Department (ED) cases. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of medical coding standards, as well as proficiency in using EPIC and 3M 360 systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Code outpatient medical records for Same Day Surgery (SDS), Observation (OBS), Ambulatory (ANC), and Emergency Department (ED) cases.
Review and analyze medical records to ensure that diagnoses and procedures are accurately documented.
Utilize the EPIC and 3M 360 systems to access and code patient information.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in coding practices.
Stay updated on relevant coding guidelines, regulations, and updates.
Collaborate with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to clarify coding issues.
Ensure compliance with all applicable coding and billing regulations and standards.
Meet established productivity and quality standards.
Participate in coding-related education and training programs as required.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in EPIC and 3M 360 systems is required.
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is preferred.
Experience in outpatient coding, particularly in SDS, OBS, ANC, and ED.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare providers and team members.
Ability to work independently and meet productivity targets.
Willingness to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) as part of the regular schedule.
