Job Description

EAG is seeking a highly experienced Revenue Regulatory Manager (or Senior Manager) to lead regulatory compliance and revenue accounting operations for a portfolio of upstream oil and gas clients. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely revenue distribution, regulatory reporting, owner relations oversight, audit support, process improvement, and client advisory services.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in oil and gas revenue accounting, regulatory compliance, severance tax reporting, production reporting, and ownership management. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while leading internal teams and driving operational excellence through process improvement and technology adoption.

This position requires strong leadership skills, exceptional client communication abilities, and a passion for developing scalable processes within a growing outsourcing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Advisory
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for revenue accounting and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to client leadership teams regarding revenue processes, ownership issues, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide operational updates, recommendations, and issue resolution.
  • Assist clients during acquisitions, divestitures, system implementations, and organizational transitions.

Revenue Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee monthly revenue distribution processes.
  • Review and approve revenue allocations and owner payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of production volumes and ownership changes.
  • Review revenue reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Manage suspense and unclaimed property processes.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal reporting requirements.
  • Oversee severance tax reporting and reconciliations.
  • Review production reporting submissions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting clients and recommend process modifications.
  • Support royalty audits, regulatory audits, and owner inquiries.

Ownership & Division Order Administration

  • Provide oversight of ownership setup and maintenance.
  • Review complex ownership calculations and title-related issues.
  • Assist with ownership transfers resulting from acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Support Division Order Administration functions as needed.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor Revenue Accountants and Senior Revenue Accountants.
  • Review work products for quality and accuracy.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
  • Manage resource allocation across multiple client engagements.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with EAG's Enterprise Automation team to develop scalable solutions.
  • Document and standardize business processes.
  • Participate in technology implementations and system optimization efforts.

Quality Control

  • Ensure adherence to EAG quality standards and internal controls.
  • Perform operational reviews and identify process risks.
  • Develop corrective action plans for identified issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the revenue function.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Energy Commerce, or related field.
  • 10+ years of upstream oil and gas revenue accounting experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of:
    • Revenue distribution processes
    • Production reporting
    • Severance tax reporting
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Ownership management
    • Royalty and working interest accounting
    • Suspense management
    • Unclaimed property reporting
  • Strong understanding of state regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a client-service, consulting, or outsourcing environment.
  • Experience with acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Knowledge of Division Order Administration.
  • Experience with the following systems:

    • Quorum
    • Enertia
    • BOLO
    • EnergyLink
    • OpenInvoice
  • Experience with Power BI reporting.
  • Experience leading process improvement and automation initiatives.
