Job Description
Our client is seeking an I&E Technician in the Carlsbad, NM to support both field operations and manufacturing teams, ensuring equipment reliability and safe operation across customer sites. The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems associated with compressor control and power systems.

Responsibilities:
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for motor control systems for Field Service and Manufacturing personnel.
- Assist with compressor system installation, inspection, commissioning and startup.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operational and electrical issues on PLC based compressor control systems, VFDs and electric motors.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring that all work is performed safely, and that all equipment meets safety standards.
- Able to troubleshoot 120-480 VAC panels in a safe manner.
- Execute necessary repairs and replacement of faulty electrical components, control systems and instrumentation to restore equipment to proper working.
- Install and use equipment specific application software for various electronic components including Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Frequency Drives, Human Machine Interfaces, pressure transmitters and automated valves.
- Develop technical documentation including procedures and work instructions.
- Provide technical training to Field Service and Manufacturing personnel.
- Work with customers and customer contractors to provide support for installation and operation of compressor controls systems.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or Technical Certification in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology).
- Proven experience as an I&E technician or related role in an industrial, oilfield or service industry.
- Experience with three phase 480VAC electrical systems.
- Experience with electric motor control systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and various instrumentation devices.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience with electrical test equipment including multi-meters, insulation testers, and oscilloscopes.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications as well as application software installation and configuration.
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting equipment and working in various environmental conditions.
- Compression experience a plus.
- Automotive or engine repair experience a plus.
- Travel will be required.
