Company Overview:

Our client is an established leader in the structural steel erection industry. They are dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, and efficient construction solutions for their clients. Safety is at the core of everything they do, and they are seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and enhance their company-wide safety program.

Position Summary:

The Safety Director is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of all safety activities across the organization. This position will manage the safety department, develop and enforce policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and cultivate a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will bring strong general contractor or structural steel safety experience and proven success managing safety professionals in the construction industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the company’s safety program.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Manage, mentor, and oversee safety personnel to ensure consistent execution of safety initiatives.
  • Conduct regular jobsite audits and inspections to verify compliance with OSHA, state, and company requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to drive accountability and continuous safety improvement.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the primary contact with regulatory agencies, clients, and other external stakeholders on safety matters.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety practices through training, communication, and recognition programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of construction safety experience; general contractor or structural steel safety experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a safety team and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices in construction.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify risks, and implement corrective measures.
  • Relevant safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OSHA 500, etc.) preferred.
