Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to support the service and maintenance of their oilfield automation equipment in Midland, TX. They are a recognized global leader with decades of steady growth in the oil and gas sector. This hands-on field role reports directly to the Field Services Leader and involves installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical and electronic systems used in oilfield automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background within the oil & gas industry, be comfortable working independently in outdoor environments, and be committed to safety and compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Service and maintain Automation equipment under the direction of the Field Services Leader
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical/electronic equipment on-site
- Perform electrical and electronic installations, including conduit and equipment setup
- Utilize a variety of electronic tools and equipment such as auto cranes and stud guns
- Assess and resolve well-optimization issues independently or with technical specialists
- Collaborate with other business entities as needed to meet operational goals
- Be available for overtime, weekends, and holiday shifts as required
- Operate in physically demanding environments, including lifting up to 55 lbs and working in extreme weather conditions
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for use of company vehicles
- Submit to a driving record check, pass a DOT physical, and meet physical job demands
- Be able to remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods in a shop environment
- Be willing to travel and stay out of town occasionally
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum 3 years of electrical experience in the oil & gas industry
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check and DOT physical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master level)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Prior oilfield experience
- Experience with variable speed drives, automation systems, and instrumentation
- Commitment to customer service standards and quality assurance
- Inventory management skills
- Adherence to HSE policies and procedures
