Job Description

Our client is a private-equity backed company commercializing our MaCH4 natural-gas liquids (NGL) recovery solution that conditions raw field gas for use in reciprocating gas engines supporting compression, gas lift and oil field electrification applications, while actively pursuing the exit of the legacy MRU business.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled VP of Operations and Supply Chain Energy to support a successful commercialization and scale of our operations, working hand in hand with our suppliers and distributors to meet all service requirements of and delivery times for our customers. The VP Operations and Supply Chain will a) oversee all aspects of installation, commissioning, and operations of the deployed MaCH4 fleet, b) establish the foundation, infrastructure, and support to deploy and operate and provide warranty services for the MaCH4 through one or multiple distributors, c) develop and manage a network of suppliers and fabricators to manufacture MaCH4 at the required cost, quality, and lead times to meet market demands, and d) supplier quality management. The VP Operations and Supply Chain, as a key advisor to the CEO, will be a member of the executive management team. This position requires a combination of discipline-specific knowledge with leadership and business skills to promote the efficiency, profitability, and competitive position of the company.

Essential Duties:

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Design and execute upon scalable and common operational procedures and methodologies for the company with a focus towards safety, operational excellence, margin improvement, asset utilization, and value creation.
    • Designing and maintaining key metrics, systems, processes, and Key Performance Indicators to be used to measure and maintain a high operating standard across the organization.
    • Establish the required remote operations systems, processes, procedures and personnel to meet all support needs as promised to our customers to enable 99% MaCH4 system availability.
    • Manage, support, and direct multi-disciplined internal operations team (operations manager, installation and commissioning supervisor, operations specialists) and third-party service providers.
    • Partner with engineering to provide superior customer experience throughout the product lifecycle and achieve target cost and safety expectations, including the respective support for the MRU exit.
    • Developing and recruiting key team members, and through them, motivating the team to superior performance. Lead and develop a positive work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating a group of top-quality employees at all levels.
  • Enable OEM Business Model:
    • Establish in collaboration with the executive leadership team and our distributors the support requirements, roles and responsibilities, and success measures for us, as the OEM, and the respective distributor.
    • Establish operational procedures and methodologies for the lifecycle of the product to ensure reliable and cost-effective installation, operation, and decommissioning at customer sites through the distributor.
    • Establish and provide training and certification programs to our distributors and end customers to achieve success criteria.
    • Establish support infrastructure and systems and measures, to meet requirements as agreed upon with distributors and related agreements.
    • Establish fleet monitoring and reporting system that enables continues learning and system optimization from the active fleet, supports management of warranty claims, and informs aftermarket service requirements.
  • Supply Chain for Profitable Growth:
    • Manage in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing as well as Finance team the Sales & Operations Planning process to reliably meet MaCH4 system and spare part delivery times
    • Identify and qualify in collaboration with Engineering a network of suppliers and fabricators that can meet quality standards, cost targets, and lead requirements for a newly developed product line.
    • Develop the network of suppliers and fabricators to meet growth needs.
    • Prepare requests for pricing (RFPs) in collaboration with Engineering, determine the highest value solution, and conduct price negotiation.
    • Manage supplier costs, schedules, deliveries/logistics and performance on commodities and specialty equipment, parts, materials and services.
    • Manage supplier quality with quality inspections, ITP’s, and an overall quality assurance program o Manage the PO and related change order process to meet financial and quality goals.
    • Ensure that standard Master Service Agreements are in place with vendors and suppliers.
    • Further optimize and follow company policies on the protocol and processes for RFPs, procurement and purchase orders
Proficiencies, Skills and Experience
  • Operations and Supply Chain leader with 10+ years’ work experience in the oil & gas industry with a strong preference in midstream operations where operational excellence is a fabric of the entity.
  • B.S. in an engineering discipline is desired. 
  • Senior level experience in operations, supply chain, and project management of gas processing facilities desired. 
  • Strong track record of operational excellence and a track record for transforming business practices within high-growth project and operating environments.
  • Significant natural gas midstream operating experience and be comfortable dealing with senior professionals across a myriad of disciplines ranging from engineering, operations, construction/project development, through to commercial, business development and administration.
  • Previous experience with Pressure Swing Adsorption Systems is a plus.
  • Strong experience in Sales & Operations Planning to meet growth needs
  • A strong understanding and experience of implementing leading environment, health, and safety initiatives – both personal safety and process safety.
  • Significant management and leadership experience in areas of recruiting, retaining, and developing a high performing team both of technical staff and management.
  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative work culture.

Reporting To – CEO Location – Houston based with current hybrid of remote and in-office work. Up to 25% in travel activity to work with suppliers, customers, and distributors
