Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Lead Estimator with estimating experience with steel manufactured products and associated welding and other fabrication processes to add to their team! This role is with a well-established, family-owned infrastructure company, specifically within their Utility Division. 

Successful candidates must pass a background check, MVR check and drug screening as a requirement for these positions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in estimating within a manufacturing preferably in utility pole or steel structure fabrication.
  • Must be comfortable reading fabrication drawings and design calculations.
  • Needs to be able to interpret and create bill of materials and perform material take-offs.
  • Should have knowledge of labor hours and SG&A rates.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Need someone who can be creative and help refine estimating tools and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, and production expenses.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to understand steel and other raw material pricing.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to determine cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist in the development of bid proposals and pricing strategies.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and estimation tools.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Monitor industry trends, material costs, and manufacturing advancements to enhance estimation accuracy.
  • Support project management and production teams in cost control and budget adherence.
