Northern Staffing Services of Petoskey, in conjunction with Kilwins Chocolates, is seeking a
Mid Shift Manufacturing Material Handler. Starting pay is $17.50/hour! Read on for more information!
JOB SUMMARY Supports the daily and weekly production activities at KQC by delivering and staging ingredients, packaging, and supplies per the needs of the manufacturing team; inspect and unload material and supply deliveries (Receiving); move end item inventory to proper inventory location as produced by manufacturing; organize and maintain Bay View storage and staging areas, in a manner that meets and/or exceeds the business plan. Requires an understanding of food safety, food quality, product labeling, First In First Out inventory management practices, shipping and receiving practices, and safe fork lift/pallet jack operation.

Understand, support, implement, and ensure compliance to all company and governmental agencies safety policies, procedures and regulations.
5. Ensure that shipping, receiving, and material handling is conducted in a safe work environment, free from recognized hazards, promote and encourage safe work habits, and the immediate communication of unsafe conditions.

6. Review and understand the daily and weekly production schedule, anticipating the need for raw materials and supplies.
7. Attend to receiving activities of ingredients, supplies, and equipment as delivered by various carriers. This involves moving objects that weigh as much as 60 pounds.
8. Receive materials against purchase orders and re-label to Kilwin’s internal item numbering system.
9. Maintain all staging, ingredient, packaging, and finished item storage locations in a neat and organized manner. Continuously seek improvements to the storage and flow of materials.
10. Understand and maintain strict handling practices for allergens, toxic chemicals, or any other materials in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
11. Support Inventory Accuracy initiatives and conduct cycle counts when
necessary.
12. Support containment efforts of any non-conforming product, and work with the manufacturing team to disposition inventory properly.
13. Maintain a clean work area, including equipment, and all manufacturing storage areas. Actively participate in the end-of-shift cleaning duties. Cleanliness is every employee’s responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. High school diploma required.
2. Experience in commercial/industrial cleaning and/or material handling preferred.
3. Working knowledge of candy making equipment, cleaning equipment/supplies and inventory/warehousing equipment preferred.
4. Knowledge of Kilwins manufacturing operations preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
