Role Summary:
Systems Engineer contributing and being a key technical member of the Fleet System Engineering team and be responsible for interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines, Business Managers, Project Managers, and customers. The Lead Systems Engineer will be challenged with complex technical issues in a dynamic project environment. In this role you will be responsible for performing technical design, evaluation and delivery of major and complex assignments supporting the fleet operating BWRs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform EPU evaluation for various NSSS systems
- Work with a team of Engineers to support general system evaluations and other systems related emergent requests.
- Lead and conduct calculations, design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR safety and non-safety system functions
- Apply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related area from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Nuclear Plant Safety Systems and
Components - Minimum of 5 years of experience working with multi-disciplined Engineering or Operations teams on BWR Nuclear Power Plant Systems
Additional Desired Characteristics
- In-depth knowledge of BWR reactor major NSSS systems (such as CRD, Recirculation, ECCS, RWCU, SLC, Main Steam – MSIVs and SRVs, HPCI, RCIC, HPCS) and their operation
- Familiar of setpoint calculation standards and regulations such as: ISA 67.04.01 and RG 1.105
- Proven technical skills within project management environment
- Proven oral / written communication and teamwork skills
- Commercial Nuclear Power Plant Systems experience, Professional Engineering License, or Advanced Degree from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated ability to perform while challenged by multiple demands and changing priorities
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interface experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including a minimum of 2 years of experience as a lead or lead contributor on major projects
- Knowledge of BWR nuclear plant systems and analyses techniques, commercial plant outages, and nuclear industry practices
- Experience with design, evaluation, and operation of nuclear power plant components, primarily BWRs
