We are seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our team, supporting the design, programming, and commissioning of advanced HVAC-R control systems for large marine vessels. Based in Brossard, QC you’ll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge automation solutions for international shipbuilding projects.
Design and develop electrical control systems for marine HVAC applications
Create and maintain AutoCAD Electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
Program and configure PLCs and HMIs (Siemens TIA Portal, Logo Controller, Beijer)
Perform system testing, software downloads, start-ups, and commissioning
Troubleshoot HVAC control systems during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and on-site
Commission sensors and system inputs; calibrate transmitters and other devices
Interpret control philosophy documents to develop sequence logic
Collaborate with field engineers and shipyard teams globally
Contribute to project planning by estimating design and programming timelines
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or equivalent
5+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical for control panel design
Skilled in PLC/HMI programming (especially Siemens and Beijer platforms)
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system-level problem-solving
Autonomous, hands-on, and solutions-focused mindset
Bilingual in English and French (verbal and written)
Willingness to travel up to 15% for on-site support and commissioning
